    Wilmington trail opening delayed

Opening of the Wilmington trail has now been pushed back to Saturday due to high winds at the top of the run. The trail opened late last year in part because of the winds. They should have known not to route the trail through a fir wave. Fir waves indicate the presence of persistently high winds.

Not only was Cirque Glades added to the trail map, but Pipeline Trail was added as well. Pipeline Trail is the existing trail that leads from the North Quad to the Ski Bowl. On the trail map it states that there is "no return lift service". Looks like the first step is being made in...

    Re-Vegetating Trails

Hypothetical: It's the year 2015. The Tree-Island Pod is complete. Whiteface has reached the 25 mile limit that the ski area is constitutionally allowed. Whiteface tries unsuccessfully to raise the ceiling to 30 miles of trails. The ski area wants to add new terrain, but the only way to do...

    Updated Trail Map

The trail map has been updated for this season to reflect the new trail "John's Bypass". While that isn't too exciting, I thought it was great that the map now features the Tree Island Pod as future terrain. Check it out: http://www.whiteface.com/newsite/onmtn/trail_map.pdf

It looks like conditions are recovering in the High Peaks for any backcountry endeavors (Bennies B?!) Lake Colden picked up nearly 20'' inches over 3 days. Light Snow...

Light Snow is in the forecast for the next couple of days. Complimented with snowmaking, surfaces should be nice going into the weekend. While nothing big is in the forecast, it looks like we might be getting frequent flurries to freshen the slopes and build up base.

Does anyone know the history of Marble Mountain and Whiteface? What was the impetus for closing the old hill and moving to Whiteface? What were the original runs that were cut on WF?
